JMT is seeking an Inspector I to join our Texas Construction Management division. The Inspector I will be responsible for conducting on-site inspections of work in progress and performing assignments while assisting the Senior Inspector and other Inspectors in the performance of their duties. The successful candidate will receive general supervision from the Senior Inspector who reviews work while in progress.
Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications, and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations
- Performs routine tests on concrete, soils, and other materials
- Measure dimensions and verify the level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades , and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes
- Gathers and maintains record documents
- Makes field notes and computations
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills
- Candidates must be able to perform mathematical calculations, follow technical instruction, read plans and specifications
- Duties are to assist and if needed, escalate issues to higher-level Inspectors
Required Experience
- Candidates must have a High School diploma or equivalent (may be substituted by experience)
- Strong Computer proficiency
- Active driver’s license
- Ability to pass a drug test
Preferred Experience
- Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management or civil engineering
Working Conditions
Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
