Frappe Taste Tester
Accounting and Finance
Food testers ensure the quality of foods and beverages through extensive examination. Their work focuses on making certain all goods meet company and governmental standards. Some food testers work in the research and development of new product lines. These specialists also may be referred to as food science technicians.
Food testers conduct standard tests on the taste, color, texture and nutritional values of all additives, preservatives and finished food and beverage items. They use microscopes to look for bacteria or other contaminants. A food science technician relies on mathematical and chemical formulas to determine moisture, salt content, solubility and sediment. In some instances, food testers are expected to swallow and smell samples to make certain the product is ready to be sold to consumers.
