About Project/Program
Soil Values is funded by the Netherlands Directorate General for International Cooperation (D.G.I.S), this program addresses persistent soil fertility challenges in the Sahel region, namely Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, northern Nigeria. Soil Values aim to strengthen agricultural resilience to climate change, with a focus on regional connectivity and strategic interventions. The program aims to achieve lasting impact in the fight against desertification and land degradation, landscape management - watersheds through participatory planning, effectively integrating soil, water and biodiversity. Efforts will be made to promote financial incentive instruments, encouraging farmers to adopt sustainable soil management practices.
As part of the implementation of its program communication and Knowledge Management strategy covering Nigeria, the program is recruiting a young professional to support efforts to promote, raise the profile of, and increase awareness of its activities.
Scope of Services
The successful candidate for this position will actively contribute to the implementation of the Soil Values Program's communication strategy covering Nigeria. They will also ensure compliance with established communication and Knowledge Management guidelines and procedures, working closely with the program teams.

Produce different formats and types of communication content (newsletters, articles, photos, videos, social media posts, visuals, etc.) on the program's activities;

Contribute to the organization and coverage of field activities, events and workshops (shooting, interviews, writing reports, reporting, etc.);

Support internal communication and Knowledge Management activities, popularization of agricultural technologies and media partnerships in Nigeria;

Participate in information monitoring on topics related to agriculture and agricultural policies in the Sahel.
Requirements
To be eligible to apply, candidate must have the following qualifications:

Student or graduate in communication, journalism, public relations or marketing;

Strong interest in agricultural, environmental, climate and sustainable development issues;

Fluency in English and local languages is an asset;

Good writing skills and creativity in content production;

Knowledge of digital communication tools;

Basic proficiency in multimedia production tools is an advantage;

Ability to work in the field, interact with communities and collect communication data;

Team spirit, initiative, rigor and adaptability.
Location and Duration
The consultancy is expected to be carried out within a Six-month contract and based in Kano, but candidate should be available to travel when called upon.
Reporting and Work Relationship
The position will report to the Communication and Knowledge Management Specialist, Soil Values Program Coordination in Nigeria, IFDC Nigeria or her designee.
Payment Fees and Terms
The monthly consulting fee is set at the equivalent of USD 500 in local currency, together with a monthly communication allowance of NGN 10,000.00.
