Senior Urban Designer

We are currently seeking a Senior Urban Designer. As a Senior Urban Designer, you will be working with our Planning team across the region, in business and client development, project design/delivery, financial management, strategic insight, community outreach and staff development. As the Senior Urban Designer for the region, you will be accountable for assisting with the development and execution of the Planning practice’s regional marketing strategy with responsibilities to include but not limited to: 

  • Designs and manages planning and urban design projects.
  • Demonstrates creative thinking abilities and contributes to Firmwide design excellence and problem solving.
  • Demonstrates reliable understanding of the relationship between design and constructability.
  • Incorporates Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
  • Continually contributes to the upgrade of the design process by developing and maintaining positive industry relationships and working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and consultants.
  • Participates in managing client relationship.
  • Demonstrates effective conflict resolution techniques with clients and project team members.
  • Involvement in regional planning marketing and business development opportunities, preparation of proposals, interviews, public presentations and other related marketing and press-related materials.
  • Participating in the planning industry activities by way of speaking, presenting and/or writing to enhance the Planning practice’s standards.
  • Participates in intra company agreements, contracts and deliverables and assures HOK standards for project management are met.
  • Actively promotes collaborative and innovative culture.
  • Proactively engages staff and provides opportunities for development.

Required Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines.
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD).
  • Ability to prioritize oneself and the work of others to meet deadlines and provide high quality service to clients.
  • Proven ability to present, effectively sell and negotiate the services of HOK.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Adeptness in Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, GIS, Ecotect, and InDesign graphic software preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in urban design, urban planning, or landscape architecture. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience.
  • Registration with current license required if offered in your region. 
  • LEED AP or GA required within 12 months of employment.

Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus. The reasonably expected salary range for this position in Denver, CO is $80,000 - $120,000.
