Role Overview:

Could you be our next Sr. Investment Reporting & Analytics Analyst? Globe Life is looking for a Sr. Investment Reporting & Analytics Analyst to join the team!

 

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering financial insights and comprehensive reporting that support strategic decisions for Globe Life’s $20B investment portfolio. The investment portfolio encompasses a diverse range of assets, including fixed income securities, alternative assets, and equity. The position combines expertise in investment accounting and financial planning & analysis (FP&A) with a focus on scenario analysis, development of forward-looking models to analyze the impacts of the investment strategy, and board-level reporting.

 

The role also ensures accurate and timely statutory and GAAP reporting through data modeling, maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.  This role requires close collaboration withing Investments, FP&A, and IT teams to drive accurate analysis, streamline reporting, and support ongoing process improvements.

 

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, Texas (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

 

What You Will Do:

  • Develop and implement financial models for scenario planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Analyze investment financial data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for Globe Life subsidiaries.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports and analyses, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for subsidiary boards of directors, financial reporting, and management.
  • Partner with other departments to gather relevant information and ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives.
  • Support the evaluation of potential investments and acquisitions for the subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with IT to optimize data infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
  • Apply data modeling techniques (hierarchical, relational, dimensional, etc.) to integrate investment accounting and FP&A datasets.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data models to enhance financial insights and decision-making.
  • Use programming languages such as Python or R to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Drive process improvements and automation initiatives to streamline FP&A and reporting.
  • Support end-to-end accounting and reporting for complex investments, including fixed income, alternatives, and equities across multiple subsidiaries.
  • Assist with preparation of journal entries and reconciliations between investment accounting systems, the general ledger, and custodians.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies during daily processing.
  • Perform periodic updates to portfolio pricing, ratings, factors, foreign exchange rates, and other security attributes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support to auditors, management, and other departments on investment accounting initiatives.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual statutory statements, including audited statutory reports, risk-based capital calculations, supplemental reports, and rating agency surveys for assigned subsidiaries.
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, company policy, and other statutory and regulatory requirements, such as GAAP, IFRS, and NAIC accounting practices and procedures.
  • Research and stay updated on the latest industry trends and regulatory changes impacting investment accounting and reporting for insurance companies.

 

 

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • MBA or an advanced degree in a relevant field, preferred.
  • CPA certification.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in investment accounting, financial planning & analysis, or a closely related field within financial services.
  • Significant hands-on experience with complex investment portfolios similar in size and scope to the $20 billion portfolio, including diverse assets like fixed income, equities, mortgage loans, and alternative investments.
  • Demonstrated experience in a senior analyst or lead role where independent work and strategic contributions were expected.
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or a top consulting firm, or strong experience in a financial industry.
  • Proven experience in investment accounting and reporting, with a strong understanding of financial instruments, accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, SAP), and regulatory requirements for insurance companies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in FP&A, including forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling.
  • Advanced analytical skills with ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Tableau, Power BI, Python, or R preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills; able to present findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with ERP/EPM financial systems; interest in process automation and efficiency improvements.
