Role Overview:

Could you be our next Senior Managing Associate Actuary? Globe Life is looking for a Senior Managing Associate Actuary to join the team!

 

In this role, you will be responsible for monthly GAAP financials, quarterly and annual Statutory reporting, asset adequacy analysis, etc. The incumbent will also be responsible for managing one or two team members. 

 

This is a hybrid position located in McKinney, TX (WFH Monday & Friday, In Office Tuesday-Thursday).

 

What You Will Do:

  • Develop, maintain, and operate the POLYSystems model for GAAP and STAT valuation. Prepare, calculate, and review actuarial data. Analyze the financial results and prepare the financial statements.
  • Work cooperatively with other teams such as Life and Health Pricing, Experience Study and Accounting to support effective financial reporting.
  • Support external and internal auditor’s review processes and procedures for financial reporting.
  • Perform cash flow testing for asset adequacy analysis and prepare the actuarial memorandum.
  • Support PBR valuation and creation of VM-31 report.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging regulatory developments.
  • Manage a team of one or two staff members.
  • Other ad hoc projects.

 

What You Can Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.) required, F.S.A. preferred.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in valuation.
  • Demonstrated mathematical ability required.
  • Solid technical actuarial skills required, including valuation fundamentals and methods.
  • Strong MS Office (Word, Excel, Access) skills required.
  • Experience with PolySystems or similar software.
  • Understanding of PC server-based data warehouses and data storage strategies for valuation and reporting. Database (SQL, Redshift) and/or programming skills is a plus.
  • Understanding of general ledger accounting methods and systems, and experience interacting with financial reporting accountants.
  • Valuation experience with selected products; traditional life and limited benefit health products.
  • Ability to work well in team-based environment.
  • Well-organized, with the ability to handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to company goals and objectives.
  • The ability to work alongside others with differing backgrounds and competencies.
  • Ability to work on issues that are not discretely defined.
