DYS Youth Residential Counselor | PT + Relief 

Multiple Shifts: Weekends, evenings, and overnight help wanted 

Division: Adolescent & Child Residential Services

We're searching for Residential Staff to join our R.I.S.E. / DYS Program in Springfield on a Part-time or Relief Staff basis and multiple shifts. Our Residential Counselors maintain a therapeutic environment within the residence, which includes meeting the needs of the client in the following areas: safety, medical, emotional, food, clothing, and shelter. They participate in the development of reasonable limits and structures for each child and to implement these limits on a daily basis in the residence and community in a fair and consistent manner. The Residential Counselor will work a variety of shifts - first, second, or third. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • To work as a cooperative team member, provide leadership to fellow direct care staff persons working shift, and to be a positive role model for clients.

  • To assist clients in carrying out daily tasks and responsibilities including cleaning, cooking, maintenance, and laundry.  To willingly perform these tasks when clients in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Complete DYS medication training.
  • To assume other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Program Director or Assistant Director.
  • Knowledge of Agency policies, practices, and procedures and to meet all rules and regulations of the Agency.
  • Attends required mandatory Staff meetings.
  • Participate in DYS Basic Trainings in Grafton MA.


Required Skills

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Must have a valid Massachusetts. license
  • Must have a reliable vehicle available to transport clients or provide other supportive services as necessary.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), Bicultural, encouraged to apply.
  • Must meet Agency requirements for driving history records.
  • Must have the availability of an automobile to transport clients or perform other supportive services as necessary.


Required Experience


  • Previous work in the related fields dealing with youths is preferred. 
  • High School Degree or General Education Diploma Required


  • Health, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance, up to 32 hours
  • Note: Relief Staff do not earn benefits.
