As a Reactor Coolant Pump Field Service Rep in Lynchburg, VA, you will be part of the proven team in the IBR Business Line in the Installed Base Business Unit. Under minimal supervision, this position is responsible for routine to complex installation, repair, preventative maintenance and testing of tools and equipment at customer sites. Utilizes procedures, drawings, and experience to perform activities on specific tooling, equipment and components. Directs less experienced technicians in the field and may provide input regarding performance. Responsible for performance of activities in a safe, efficient and error free manner. Will be required to work around radioactivity and corrosive chemicals; must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
Major Duties Include:
- Installs, troubleshoots, assembles disassembles, repairs and maintains tooling and equipment related to Reactor Coolant Pumps and Motors at customer sites.
- Conducts a variety of complex field tasks including, but not limited to operating specialized equipment, taking measurements, compiling data, and performing without error in high stress environments.
- Develops calculations, tables, reports and related data; maintains maintenance logs and certification documents.
- Develops or revises procedures, problem reports, job hazard analyses, and field schedules.
- Participates in planning and executing projects and may be responsible for pre-outage preparations.
- May provide input to training materials and may conduct training.
- Responsible for directing technicians which includes on the job training, conducting pre-job briefs, defining task requirements, performance management and coaching, documenting performance, managing conflicts between co-workers, and ensuring safety and compliance of individuals and plant equipment.
- Complies with all applicable safety and health rules including personal dose compliance.
- Responsible for the safety and well-being of personnel supervising.
- Works flexible hours and shifts, as required, to ensure timely service.
- Requires travel to a variety of remote job sites.
- Requires unescorted nuclear access (includes background check, psychological exam, and drug screen).The candidate for this position will contribute to and/or perform the following duties:
- Be able to perform hands-on duties during the refurbishment, removal, and installation of large vertical electric motors (RCPM’s) and pumps (RCP’s) from U.S. nuclear sites.
- Experience with heavy lifting and rigging preferred.
- Required to have a strong mechanical background, with an understanding of electrical safety.
- Experience with RCP mechanical seals, flanged connections, motor/pump alignments, and motor preventative maintenance.
- Must be able to read and work to drawings and procedures with strict adherence.
- Have some insight to Nuclear Safety Related work and be familiar with QA programs.
- Be able to attain and sustain Rad Worker access to Framatome radiological facilities.
- Must be able to attain and sustain Unescorted Access to nuclear power plants in support of seasonal outages and emergent work.
- Installs, troubleshoots, assembles and disassembles, repairs and maintains pump and motor equipment at nuclear reactor plant sites or in Lynchburg VA at the Pump & Motor Service Center.
- May assist with the development of procedures required to perform equipment maintenance and operation.
- Complies with all applicable safety and health rules including personal dose compliance.
- Works flexible hours and shifts, as required, to ensure timely service.
- Abilitity to pass drug and alcohol random screening while working at various job sites.
- May require travel to a variety of regional and remote job sites
- Excellent written/verbal skills with an ability to effectively communicate to staff, management, vendors, and customers. Ability to comprehend instructions, procedures and guidelines required to perform assigned tasks. Ability to lift up to 45 pounds, bend, stoop, and remain standing for extended periods of times.

Your total rewards package
The range of base salary for the position is between $42.40 - $55.50 per hour, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
