The training for this position will be in Clarksville, Tennessee. This position will be responsible for the Clarksville and Nashville Market.

 

POSITION PURPOSE


The Financial Advisor develops business for the Wealth Management department and their broker-dealer by building effective relationships and trust and providing an excellent member service experience to credit union members. Counsels and advises members regarding their financial holdings and offers financial products and services including mutual funds, equity-linked CDs, life insurance, and annuities to clients for investment purposes.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Evaluate members relative to their financial needs, current situation and holdings and available investment capital by profiling and uncovering their needs and educating them about the products and services that are most appropriate for their situation, including cross-referrals back to the credit union for loans and deposits products
  • Help the client to identify their investment objectives.
  • Proactively seek information from clients and prospective clients to understand possible changing situations, needs and desired benefits and evaluate product or service alternatives.
  • Establish and maintain thorough prospect files and notes. Review and access on a scheduled basis.
  • Open, transfer, and close customer accounts as necessary.
  • Follow up promptly on customer service requests, for withdrawals, changes, and other needs.
  • Maintain appropriate account records and ensure all documentation required is provided and completed.
  • Obtain and verify all customer purchases and sales instructions, enter orders and follow-up on completion of all transactions.
  • Responsible for the explanation of the organization, participants and functions of various securities markets and the principal factors that impact them.
  • Monitor customer’s portfolio and make recommendations consistent with changes in economic and financial conditions as well as the customer’s needs and objectives.
  • Ensure duties are performed in accordance with just and equitable principles of trade, federal and state laws, and industry regulations.
  • Proactively market and support all relevant Credit Union products and services.
  • Promote Fortera’s branch through community events, on-site programs and networking activities.
  • Keep current on investment products and services offered.
  • Provide excellent member service.
  • Work with Branch Managers to identify and leverage cross-sell opportunities.
  • Drive investment and credit union integration initiatives, e.g. call nights, branch training, etc.
  • Support all product and campaign launches.
  • Set and keep consistent office hours at designated branch(es)
  • Satisfactorily complete all required compliance training and complies with all regulations which apply within the scope of the position to include Bank Secrecy Act compliance.
  • Attend and participate in all required meetings, trainings, and committees as required.
  • Participate in community and civic events to promote awareness of the Credit Union in the community.
  • Ensure work area is clean, secure and well maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

 
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

  • Investments and/or assignments are efficiently delivered in accordance with established regulatory guidelines and Credit Union policies and standards.
  • Good business relations exist with external vendors and their questions are promptly addressed.
  • Assistance is provided as needed.
  • Good working relations exist with CU personnel. Assistance is provided as needed.
  • Management is appropriately informed of area projects, activities and of any significant problems.
  • Required reports and records are accurate and timely.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

  • Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

 

Physical Strength:                   

  • Sedentary work; sitting most of the time.  Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.  (Almost all office jobs.)

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

None:                                                  

  • Frequent local travel. Able to drive between assigned branches to attend set appointments, as well as, to meet members for convenience when outbound calls result in appointments.
  • No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions (such as in a typical office).

 

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

 

Reasoning Ability:                      

  • Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. Able to interpret various instructions.

 

Mathematics Ability:                 

  • Ability to perform basic math skills, use decimals to compute ratios and percents, and to draw and interpret graphs.

 

Language Ability:                        

  • Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and encyclopedias. Able to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Ability to communicate distinctly and appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order using present, perfect and future tenses.

Required Experience

Education/Certification:                 

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree in business or finance preferred.
  • FINRA Series 7 (and Series 66 or 65), FINRA Series 6 (and 63) and state life and health insurances licenses required.
  • CFP preferred but not required.

                                                                               

Required Knowledge:                 
        

  • In-depth investment knowledge preferred.

Experience Required.

  • Minimum two years counseling customer and service and selling financial products preferred.
  • Previous experience in financial services industry (credit union or community bank) or a retail organization preferred.
