Position Overview
Under limited supervision, IT Manager I is responsible for various elements to support the IT department. Will lead the work of others. Typical job responsibilities include working closely with technology and operational management to deliver results that meet the strategic goals, policies and procedures for the information technology department, ensure proper functioning of business applications and oversees necessary upgrades, and help business operational groups improve efficiency utilizing information technology best practices and solutions. The specific work assignment may include duties or activities that assist and support management in one or more of the following functions areas, in addition to other duties as assigned:
§ Effectively utilize employees by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; mentoring, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
§ Accomplishes information technology staff results by planning, forecasting, and adequately staffing resources to accomplish the business objectives, comply with all contract requirements, quality standards, within budgetary guidelines.
§ Work closely with Information Technology managers and Site Project Managers to ensure optimum allocation and utilization of departmental and project resources.
§ Maintains close working relationship with technology and operational management in ensuring departmental services are being properly executed and needs of the company are met.
§ Allocate resources aligned with prioritized workload to deliver solutions with positive customer results.
§ Responsible for conducting system reviews, writing audit reports, reviewing findings and making recommendations to technology management.
§ Maintains knowledge of and demonstrates ability to perform work safely in accordance with all approved safety policies, procedures and applicable regulations and performs assigned duties in a safe manner. Has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised and ensures they comply with established safety policies and procedures and practice safe work habits.
§ Actively participates in Safety Work Groups
Working Conditions
Work in an office at a normal environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities or industrial field environments). May also work at off-project sites representing the organization at various types of locations throughout the community for business purposes. Potential exposure to equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemicals/solvents or hazardous and radioactive materials if proper safety procedures are not followed.
Ability to perform sedentary to light work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally (any exertion of force/lifting greater than 45 pounds requires usage of a two person “buddy system”), non-repetitive, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly, repetitive; performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching.
Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.
In some cases, radiological training may be required.

BA/BS degree in a related field and 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Typical experience ranges from 12-15 years.
Work history and/or education commensurate with:
§ A solid understanding of technology
§ Deep knowledge of business principles

§ Strong interpersonal and communication skills
§ Must have demonstrated experience with budgetary responsibilities.
§ The ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and business needs.
Must possess a DOE “L” clearance or the ability to obtain a DOE “L” Clearance
Other Required Experience:
- Enterprise level data modeling, data workflow management, and performance tuning. Resolves database performance, capacity, replication
and other distributed data issues. - Serve as an enthusiastic role model and leader amongst the Database Administration team.
- Triage and prioritize operational, maintenance, research, and new database administration tasks. . Analyze, recommend, and implement solutions for enterprise performance improvement related to
database framework, database service model, and database workflows. . - Establish and enforce best practices regarding database development techniques.
- Coordinates database design, development and performance to support business requirements. .
- Maintains data backup process to ensure data availability.
- Validates data integrity through audits, file comparisons or similar processes.
- May support one or more of the following technologies: Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, SSRS, SSIS,
- Oracle report manager, T-SQL, PL/SQL, database design, database modeling, entity relationship
diagrams (ERD), SQL monitoring, data warehousing, performance tuning, backup and maintenance. - Configures reports, data transfers and other user-driven requests for system data or output.
- Responsible for supporting lT related projects such as system upgrades and application development
in compliance with standard project management methodologies. - Plans and develops technical projects or activities which may contain unique technical problems
having important impact on information management activities.
