How will this role impact First Command?

The VP, Manager, Consumer Loan Operations is a critical leadership role responsible for the successful oversight of Consumer Loan Servicing functions across First Command Bank (the “Bank”’s) suite of lending products. 

What will you do in this role?

  • Lead Consumer Loan Operations across secured and unsecured installment loans and lines of credit and direct auto loan products, including disbursement and servicing areas    
  • Oversee the collateral team and associated duties, including titling, lien perfections, releases and liquidation requests
  • Successfully manage the end-to-end Mortgage broker process and corresponding third-party vendor relationship(s)
  • Perform critical assessments of all processes and challenge the status quo by seeking new opportunities to improve operational efficiencies, reduce errors, leverage automation, and ensure optimal performance
  • Establish and communicate long-term operational vision and short-term goals to deliver an exceptional customer experience aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead coordination between internal departments and external vendors to find and implement new platforms and upgrade current systems as needed
  • Champion the Bank’s strong compliance and risk culture by ensuring adherence to applicable regulations and federal and state consumer lending and mortgage laws, showcasing strong partnership and participation in designated internal audits, and maintaining robust controls to mitigate operational risk 
  • Cultivate a work environment of excellence by delivering high-quality solutions and unmatched customer service levels at every touchpoint.

Who will you lead in this role?

  • Oversight of the following consumer loan operational areas: Collateral Management, Loan Disbursements, Auto Loan Titling, Loan Renewals, Quality Control, Mortgage (as a Broker)

What skills and qualifications do you need?

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field; MBA preferred

Work Experience

  • 5-10 years of experience in consumer lending with a bank or credit union.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

Certifications

  • Must pass background check and register with the National Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS)

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Skilled in leading teams, with a strong background in staff supervision, management, and oversight of day-to-day lending operations
  • Deep understanding of consumer lending products, operational structure, and regulatory compliance
  • Strong data analysis, forecasting, and reporting abilities to support decision-making
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage across all organizational levels
  • Self-motivated and hard-working. Must be able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously with accuracy and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to effectively “dig in” to processes and procedures, asking “why” and challenging the status quo
  • Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate decisions clearly and effectively
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with a focus on team development and strategic execution
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Jack Henry systems and solutions a plus
