How will this role impact First Command?

The Business Analyst at First Command will work closely with project management organization to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our business operations, especially within the realms of innovation and digital projects. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between IT and the business by assessing processes, determining requirements, and delivering data-driven recommendations and reports to executives and stakeholders.

What will the employee do in this role?

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to refine and implement the innovation strategy, ensuring it aligns with the overall business objectives.
  • Analyze business processes and workflows with the objective of finding out how they can be improved or automated.
  • Prepare and deliver reports, recommendations, or alternatives for improving processes in operating systems across the organization.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to share ideas and findings.
  • Perform requirements analysis and compile detailed reports.
  • Effectively communicate insights and plans to cross-functional team members and management.
  • Gather critical information from meetings with various stakeholders and produce useful reports.
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs and requirements.
  • Manage projects, develop project plans, and monitor performance.
  • Prioritize initiatives based on business needs and requirements.
  • Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and users.
  • Manage competing resources and priorities.
  • Monitor deliverables and ensure timely completion of projects.

What skills & qualifications do you need?

Education

  • BA/BS required;

Work Experience

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in business analysis or a related field.
  • Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Experience with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience with data analysis and making data-driven recommendations.5+ years of project management experience, preferably in the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, SCRUM, Waterfall).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).
  • Deep understanding of financial services and digital products
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements in the industry or region of operation.
  • Understanding of customer experience in financial services
  • Strong understanding of Lean Portfolio Management principles and practices.
  • Strong understanding and ability to facilitate discussions on business capabilities, value streams and organizing around value.

Certifications 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced technical skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Trello).
  • Excellent documentation skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong competence in gathering and interpreting complex data.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills.
  • A history of leading and supporting successful projects.
  • Strong understanding of the financial services sector and its regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge of customer experience strategies in financial services.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills.
