How will this role impact First Command?
The Senior Test Lead role will have a significant impact on First Command by driving consistent, high-quality testing across multiple agile teams and enterprise-level initiatives. By standardizing QA processes, supporting test automation, and closely monitoring key quality metrics, the role will improve software reliability, reduce production defects, and enhance delivery predictability. Through strategic collaboration with QA leadership, product owners, and development teams, the Test Manager will align testing efforts with business goals, helping First Command deliver technology solutions that are robust, compliant, and responsive to client needs. Additionally, the role will contribute to long-term quality maturity by leading innovation in tools, practices, and team capabilities.
What will the employee do in this role?
- Define test approaches, strategies, and quality controls for projects and releases.
- Ensure test plans, scenarios, and scripts align with business requirements, compliance, and risk considerations.
- Providing direction on QA tasks and practices and offering ongoing technical guidance and peer mentorship.
- Provide guidance, priorities, and quality expectations to ensure timely and effective test execution.
- Review test deliverables from quality engineers to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and defects.
- Report test progress, coverage, and defect trends to leadership and stakeholders.
- Recommend go/no-go decisions based on test results and risk assessment.
- Implement and monitor QA processes, including automation, test data/environment management, and metrics reporting.
- Ensure team compliance with QA standards, processes, and best practices.
- Partner with Product Owners, Developers, and Business Analysts to identify test needs early.
- Support development teams in implementing shift-left testing practices.
- Champion testing standards, tools, and processes across teams.
- Identify gaps in testing coverage, process, or tooling, and propose improvements.
- Support adoption of automation, performance, and data-driven testing initiatives.
What Skills/qualifications do you need?
Education
- Required – Bachelor’s degree
Work Experience
- 10+ years’ QA experience
Certifications
- Preferred : Any ISTQB Certification
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Required – Experience in working in agile environments and a strong understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Required – Experience in E2E QA landscape – core testing, test data management, test environment and tool management
- Required – Ability to work effectively with development teams and other business stakeholders.
- Required – Strong knowledge of metrics measurement and reporting.
- Required – Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
- Highly desirable: Experience in automated testing tools and frameworks
- Highly desirable: Hands on experience/understanding of Salesforce landscape
- Nice to have: Exposure to/experience in performance and security testing
- Nice to have: Experience in Financial domain
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
