How will your role impact First Command? 

 

We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented and organized Post-Closing Loan Disbursement Specialist to join our Consumer Lending Operations team! This role will focus on the disbursement of loan funds to creditors via ACH processes, ensuring that payments are accurately transferred from general ledgers (GLs) and facilitating outgoing ACH transactions. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for balancing the disbursement account daily to maintain accuracy, working closely with funding and operations teams to ensure smooth and timely execution of the disbursement process. Additionally, this role will serve as a backup for the Document Preparation Specialist, assisting with the preparation and handling of loan documents to ensure they are ready for funding.

 

What will you be doing?  

  • Process payments to creditors once loans are funded, utilizing ACH file transfers.
  • Monitor and manage the daily balancing of the disbursement account to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies. 
  • Work closely with the Funding and Operations teams to ensure the disbursement process runs smoothly and efficiently.
  • Oversee outgoing ACH transactions to creditors, ensuring all payments are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with loan agreements.
  • Ensure that all ACH transactions are accurately reflected in the company’s financial records.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure that all necessary steps are completed prior to disbursement, including verifying loan approval and funding.
  • Serve as a backup for the Document Preparation Specialist, assisting with the preparation, sending, and receiving of loan documents.
  • Ensure that all required loan documents are properly completed, reviewed, and ready for funding.
  • Assist in ensuring all documentation is in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all loan disbursement activities.
  • Resolve any issues related to ACH payments or disbursement discrepancies in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the loan functions.

 

What skills/qualifications do you need? 

 

Education: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field preferred.

 

Work Experience

  • 2-5 years’ experience in Consumer Lending Operations, loan disbursement, ACH processing, etc. with a bank or credit union.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of ACH processes and payment systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (for account balancing and reporting purposes).
  • Proficiency in Jack Henry systems (Xperience, Silverlake, LoanVantage) a plus
  • Experience with financial software and GL systems is a plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
