How will you impact First Command?

 

Under general supervision of the EVP, Chief Lending Officer, the qualified candidate will oversee the daily operations of the Collections and Recovery Team at First Command Bank and have a critical seat at the table in setting strategy and overall direction for the department.

 

 

What will you be doing? 

 

  •  Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s credit policy
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase successful collections on outstanding debt
  • Recruit, train and effectively manage the Collections team
    • Identify/correct deficient talent areas
    • Lead the interview process to fill vacant team positions with qualified candidates
  • Set targets/KPIs; monitors, reports and analyzes performance, including but not limited to:
    • Customer disputes verifications
    • Bankruptcy
    • Recovery/post-recovery/re-marketing (Auto)
    • Month-end reporting
    • Variance analysis to plan/forecast 
  • Actively participate in the annual strategic planning process, providing insight and recommendations for the Collections/Recovery budget
  • Manage and successfully execute misc. Collections programs (ie Skip Pay)
  • Assist agents and clients with situations that require a higher level of review/authority to make an informed business decision
  • Oversee processing of requests pertaining to debt management/debt settlement requests

  •  First Command Bank Collections/Recovery Representatives

 

 

What skills/qualifications do you need?

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; may consider years of experience in lieu of education.

 

Work Experience

  • 7+ years banking experience required
  •  4+ years collections/recovery experience required
  • 3+ years supervisory experience

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of billing procedures and collection techniques
  • Familiarity with applicable federal regulations and legal requirements
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and databases; eOscar
  • Strong supervisory/coaching skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information
  • Can prioritize, delegate tasks, and simultaneously oversee multiple activities
  • Able to exercise discernment in applying bank policy to situations that arise while at the same time recognizing when an exception may be warranted
  • Must possess the ability to think and use good judgment, function well under pressure and maintain confidential information and records
