Summary – basic function of the role

This is a fast-paced role for nimble and exciting product development. Strong emphasis on creating new products and developing disruptive new technology.

Position has direct influence on design within assigned product groups. Contribute toward cost, quality, and productivity improvements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ownership of assigned project tasks in support of all divisions of Enerpac.
  • Responsible for direction of activities and functions related to Electrical design to ensure they meet specifications.
  • Develop embedded software for microprocessors for a variety of types.
  • Follow best practices for software archiving, documentation, validation, and development.
  • Work within industrial standards (UL, IEEE, IEC etc.) for product development
  • Conduct Design Reviews, DFMEA, SFMEA of controls, Risk Analysis, DVP&R.
  • Perform validation and verification, and analysis in the development lab.
  • Address and resolve NPD design problems, following NPD processes, related to product deliverables.
  • Travel 10%. Field Service & Commissioning experience a benefit

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to contribute to concurrent projects independently in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, written, oral and professional skills.
  • Understanding of electric circuits and components. Capable of designing circuits to meet NPD development specification.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electronic control systems using standard laboratory test equipment.
  • Electrical/Electronic Design skills.
  • Understanding of basic hydraulics with ability to apply knowledge to product design.
  • Matlab experience a plus.
  • Model based development experience is a plus.
  • ARM experience a plus.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field or equivalent related engineering experience. 5+ years of related experience. Post graduate degree a benefit.
  • Programming experience. Experience with embedded software development in C/C++ a must.
  • Experience with CANbus, RF/Bluetooth/NFC communications, industrial protocols, and IoT a plus.
  • Experience with PCB design tools a plus
  • Experience with electrical motors and batteries a plus
