The Merchandising team at EILEEN FISHER is responsible for translating the brand's design vision into a commercially viable, cohesive seasonal assortment. We work at the intersection of product, business, and brand — partnering closely with Design, Planning, Sourcing, and our channel teams to bring the right product to the right customer at the right time. This is a hybrid role in Irvington NY, 3 days in office with flexibility to be in person up to 5 days/wk. when required.
Position Summary:
As an Associate Merchandiser, this role will plan & create specific product categories and special packages, holding the process from concept to production. Throughout this process you will facilitate thoughtful, timely utilization of material inventory to expand business and drive revenue.
This is a true Merchandising role, not a Buying role, focused on specific categories, analyzing performance, shaping and operationalizing assortments.
Partner closely with Design, Global Sourcing, Planning, and both DTC + Wholesale teams to ensure category assortments support financial goals, margin targets, and brand intention. You will report to the Merchandising Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Own the assortment for an assigned category set: contribute to silhouette balance, fabrication direction, color, and pricing decisions in alignment with overall brand and merchandising strategies
- Partner with Design on style development within assigned categories; bring a merchant perspective to line reviews, flagging commercial opportunities and gaps
- Present category assortment recommendations at internal milestone meetings with a clear rationale tied to business performance, customer needs, and brand strategy
- Participate in line editing decisions within categories in partnership with the Merchandising Manager
- Analyze weekly, monthly, and seasonal selling performance for assigned categories; develop independent reads with proposed actions
- Build and maintain competitive awareness for owned categories: proactively tracking relevant silhouettes, fabrications, and pricing positioning across the market
- Contribute to monthly and seasonal hindsight and go-forward strategy with category-level perspective and data-supported recommendations
- Work with sourcing and have working knowledge of material inventory to utilize for special packages
- Participate in cross-functional meetings with Design, Production, Planning, and Sales as the merchant voice for assigned categories
- Responsible for style set up, color allocation and sample order for assigned categories and maintaining all tools with accuracy
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Required Experience
BA/BS in Fashion Merchandising, Business or a related field or equivalent experience
Required Experience:
- 5 years in women’s apparel merchandising with direct ownership of a category
- Proven analytical ability with experience interpreting data, trends, forecasts and margin metrics
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through, able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- High proficiency with merchandising systems and advanced Excel skills
