GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for preventative equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Repair and replace equipment used for greenhouse seedling production, order and efficiently manage parts inventory. Upkeep of production facilities, office buildings, mechanical systems, heating and cooling systems.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

• Diagnose, repair, replace, and maintain equipment (70%)

• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems and complete repairs to forklifts, tractors, company vehicles, electric golf carts, Kubota and John Deer UTVs.

• Maintain and repair transplant bins, watering carts, fertilizer delivery systems, heaters, water lines and hoses.

• Use welding equipment to make repairs i.e. arc welding, Mig welding (gas argon, carbon dioxide mix) copper gas welding and aluminum Mig welding.

• Perform all levels of custom fabrication using press and welding technics to maintain existing equipment.

• Fabricate and modify seeding, watering, and mowing equipment as needed.

• Diagnose and repair HVAC unit.

• Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.

• Diagnose and repair Modine gas fired heaters, Dosatron fertilizer injectors and diesel engines.

• Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and completing electrical repairs to electrical equipment and machinery to include relays, single and triple phase motors, and components such as compressors, heaters, generators, water pumps, irrigation pumps, sanitation equipment, HVAC, and heavy machinery.

• Perform maintenance of greenhouse structures, shop buildings, offices, and storage buildings.

• Parts order and inventory (30%)

• Responsible for ordering parts for equipment repairs.

• Responsible for keeping accurate and timely inventory of all parts ordered.

• Responsible for returning parts and ensuring receipt of credit.

• Responsible for obtaining and completing POs.

Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

• Knowledge/skills/experience (required):

• 5 years of maintenance mechanical experience in greenhouse equipment or farm equipment

• 2 years of fabrication experience

• 3 years of welding experience

• 3 years of electrical experience with single and triple phase components

• Bilingual a must

• Driver’s license without restrictions

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, stoop, kneel and sit; use hand handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear in loud environment. The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) and/or up to 50 lbs.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to travel to other facilities and offices.

• Ability to come in for emergency repairs after scheduled work hours.

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION:

• Required

High School diploma or GED.

• Preferred

Mechanical certification(s)

Pay Rate: $33.00 (hourly)
