GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

This position is responsible for supervising irrigation operation of Yuma farms in order to provide proper irrigation for profitable and quality crops.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

• Supervise the irrigation operations of sprinkler and furrow irrigation systems

• Ensure proper irrigation for high quality crops, making corrections as needed.

• Order water as directed by Farm Manager.

• Direct assistant foreman and crews in accomplishing work schedules.

• Supervise bird, rodent control and all chemical chemigation.

• Enforce company safety regulations and practices.

• Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in set-up of sprinkler and furrow irrigation system.

• Understand principles of proper crop irrigation.

• Ability to accomplish work on time and correct errors.

• Ability to make decisions, appear for work on time, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/procedures.

Bilingual and Biliterate in Spanish/English is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work in various weather conditions

• Ability to walk in uneven ground

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

• Ability to climb on and off farming equipment

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work long hours and work 7 days a week when necessary

Required Experience

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

• H.S. Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required

PAY RATE:

$69,000 - $75,000 Annually
