GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Leads and directs procurement and sourcing operations of Dole Fresh Vegetable (DFV) for all goods and services (excluding raw vegetables), ensuring maximum value per expenditure and appropriate supply inventory levels. Manages risk, both in supply and inventory on hand, and eliminates single points of failure in the supply chain. Additionally, this role ensures proper contract and supplier management as it relates to all procurement functions and operations across the DFV organization.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:
• Manage the procurement function across all segments.
• Build and develop relationships and negotiate supply contracts with vendors for procurement that align with strategic goals of DFV and overall department strategies.
• Initiate formal RFPs and perform purchasing value analyses; recommend and implement process improvements, utilizing excellent negotiation skills.
• Source and qualify potential suppliers, in accordance with established supplier certification guidelines and department policies. Coordinate and oversee bid processes for suppliers according to established guidelines.
• Negotiate annual contracts for material pricing based on cost objectives, market conditions, product design and cost models.
• Identify and champion innovation and cost reduction initiatives by partnering with Dole division cross-functional teams.
• Supervise all aspects of purchasing including but not limited to the following categories : Packaging (Carton, Film Labels, Pallets and etc), Masterpacks, MRO and other material and services.
• Establish, monitor and update purchasing policies, procedures and practices, including cross functional dependencies and support driving organizational change.
• Develop project plans associated with improved processes within the department and cross functionally. Develop and manage projects that support change in suppliers/transitions/new items/equipment, etc.
• Support cost analysis and vendor performance measurement tools on an ongoing basis.
• Develop and monitor departmental budget.
• Assist in researching materials, goods and services that would improve company productivity and/or lower costs.
• Provide support to Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations as it relates to resolution of product defects and corrective actions
• Partner with Demand Planning Managers/Marketing to provide forecasts
• Authorize blanket purchase orders and sales agreements; recommend material sources to internal customers.
• Lead and develop and manage directors, managers and employees.
• Coordinate all R&D, marketing and manufacturing needs associated with vendor approvals and procurement of supplies.
• Formulate and manage cost savings and innovation proposals both internally and externally.
• Execute plans and programs designed to provide high levels of customer service to internal customers.
• Responsible for ongoing communications with customers and assessment of their needs; assist in resolving local quality and service issues.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:
• 12+ years’ work experience in procurement, project management, contract management, and/or leadership roles. Experience with analysis regarding expenses and inventory control is required.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience preferred in the Procurement field
• Knowledge of inventory management; budgeting. JD Edwards/AS400 system knowledge and advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project.
• Strong communication and presentation skills including the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization and use influence skills to obtain cooperation and support across multiple departments and functions within the organization.
• Demonstrated ability to perform well in a team environment. Must successfully demonstrate the ability and desire to share ideas, be cooperative, and express a positive and supportive attitude.
• Understanding of logistics, production planning and product pricing concepts.
• Possess strong project management and analytical skills including problem solving, critical thinking skills and variance analysis.
• Experience in the preparation of proposals and the development of contracts.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear.
• The employee must occasionally lift (including overhead) up to 15 lbs.
WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to work beyond regular business hours
Required Experience
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or Supply Chain required.
PAY RATE:
- $195,000 - $200,000 Annually
