Pay Rate:  Starting at $22.86/hour.  Differential for 2nd shift.

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, testing, rebuilding and replacing equipment according to the company’s needs.  1st shift:  4:00am-4:30pm (rotating schedule)

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Install and connect power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as cutters, conveyors, packaging equipment and programmable controllers
  • Diagnose and test malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replace damaged or broken wires, cables and mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment
  • Replace electric motor bearings and rebuild drum motors
  • Assist with design and layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings
  • Converse with equipment operators to ascertain problems with equipment before breakdown, and to determine if breakdown is due to human error or mechanical problems
  • Align, adjust, and calibrate equipment according to specifications
  • Record repairs, calibrations, and Preventative Maintenance Inspections on Work Orders and worksheets
  • Perform mechanical repair work as needed
  • Perform work on utility equipment as required
  • May be required to weld and fabricate as necessary
  • Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor

 

 


Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

  • SKILLS: Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and advanced computer application skills. Strong analytical, logic, and problem solving skills. Good oral, written and math skills.
  • ADDITIONAL: Demonstrate ability to perform the tasks may be required as a prerequisite to the job. Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures. Must be flexible with the ability to work any shift as work load demands.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. Consistently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, extreme cold, and risk of electrical shock. Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration.

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to work overtime as needed. Some weekends are required.  No travel.


Required Experience

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1 year previous experience in manufacturing, electrical, and/or mechanical applications. Previous experience will be an important consideration of assumed knowledge.
  • EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION:  One year certificate from college or technical school, or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must successfully complete required Work Keys and in-house skills assessment.
