GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE:

  • Manage day to day shipping operations for West Coast Cooler Facilities.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS/DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Manage the day to day operations of the day and night shipping operations for both Yuma AZ and Marina CA in an effort to meet budgeted cost per case. 
  • Manage picking operations and ensure staffing needs are being met in order to meet department performance metrics.
  • Ensure that the produce is handled, cooled and age rotated properly.
  • Set up and run a major cooler operation without direct supervision.
  • Develop a work schedule to maximize employee use and responsibility; work with managers, floor supervisors and foreman in scheduling of hourly employees
  • Follow all Food Safety Requirements and GMPs as applicable to position
  • Travel between all Vegetable Coolers to include seasonal relocation 
  • Maintain raw materials, packaging supplies, and warehouse equipment to maximize use and efficiency; ensure materials needed are ordered and paperwork is processed correctly
  • Responsible for employee coaching, counseling, and resolving performance issues with non-exempt and exempt personnel.
  • Responsible for training and managing of Shipping Supervisors and non-exempt personnel.
  • Act a backup for Operations Manager.
  • Seasonal relocation to Yuma AZ is required
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 


Required Skills

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES:

·       7+ years of experience in a supervisory or management capacity in a warehouse facility

·       Knowledge of produce and inventory systems.

·       Ability to schedule and manage personnel 

·       PC skills are required, including use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook

·       Must have the ability to make decisions, maintain regular and acceptable attendance.

·       Follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand, and follow posted work rules/procedures and to accept constructive criticism.

·       Familiar with vacuum tube and nitrogen cooling.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

·       Must have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.

·       Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.

·       Must be able to work in a cold (35*) environment.

·       Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles. 

·       Will have exposure to loud noises.  

WORK HOUR & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to beyond regular business hours, weekends and holidays
  • Flexibility to work varied hours is required
  •  Required to travel and relocate for season
  • Available on-call for night and weekend duties at any time, based on business requirements

 

 


Required Experience

 

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

·       Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required

PAY RATE:

  • $92,000 - $99,000 Annually
