What Will I Do In This Role?
- Assign employees job duties throughout the shift.
- Communicate with other Shift Leaders and/or Crew Leaders regarding shipping schedules, policies and any situations that arise.
- Interpret Company policy and warehouse procedures to shift personnel and ensure they are followed.
- Maintain and oversee the keeping of proper shipping records.
- Analyze daily shipping activities to take corrective action or notify management of necessary steps to maintain proper quality and quantity.
- Interview and recommend potential new hires as well as orient into the department with proper training.
- Recommend and implement disciplinary action on shift employees according to Company policies after reviewing all circumstances.
- Enforce Company safety policies, procedures, and good housekeeping practices.
- Promote Company goals and competencies.
- Participate in communication meetings as required.
- Coordinate and cooperate with other departments to meet Company goals, objectives, and projects.
In order to properly fulfill these job requirements, the Shift Leader is expected to:
- Check all operations regularly for quality, quantity, etc. to make sure correct products are being shipped.
- Review shipping schedules to make sure all trailers are loaded and pulled.
- Optimize schedules for best loading time and productivity results on trailers.
- Review shipping orders in system regularly to ensure the proper ship dates are met.
- Cross-train Material Handlers and Warehouse Associates.
- Attention to detail to assure proper patterns are being shipped to the customer.
- Drive safely and conduct safety meetings as required.
- Complete forklift certifications.
- Maintain maintenance on equipment.
- Monitor overtime and attendance, report issues.
- Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of Management.
- Fully understand functions and be able to use JD Edwards and DSI Scan Guns
Hours vary: May-June 6:00am-4:00pm, July-Nov 4:00pm-2:00am, Dec-June back to 1st shift
What Skills Do I Need?
- Ability to read, write and do basic math.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels throughout the Company.
- 5+ years warehouse experience with at least 3+ years in a Lead or Supervisory role strongly desired.
- Must have experience operating equipment such as forklift, clamp truck, etc.
- Ability to carry out broad assignments, evaluate current shipping procedures/methods and make suggestions on how to improve.
- Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
- Ability to work with confidential information.
