Schedule/Hours:  Evenings and/or Weekends may be required.

Required Qualifications:  This position requires a High School Diploma, and certification in Welding Technology. A minimum of 3 years of full-time occupational experience or the equivalent of part-time experience in welding required, prior teaching experience preferred; candidate must provide welding certification(s) with application.

Desired Qualifications:  Prior classroom teaching and simulation facilitation experience is preferred.

 Key Responsibilities: This is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.

• Teaches assigned courses.
• Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection.
• Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
• Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
• Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
• Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
• Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
• Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
• Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
• Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.

Professional Development

• Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
• Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
• Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.

College Responsibilities and Service:

• Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
• Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
• Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
• Records student attendance as necessary.
• Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

• Knowledge of areas  of discipline to be taught including Welding Blueprint Reading, Stick, TIG, MIG, and Oxy-acetylene Welding.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
• Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
• Ability to create an environment where students desire to learn, encouraging them to stay on track and work toward assigned goals.
• Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
• Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Macintosh environment is also required.
