Rank: Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

About the Digital and Interactive Media Production Program: The Digital and Interactive Media Production Program at Daytona State College prepares students for successful careers in the dynamic world of media creation. Through an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum focused on digital media, video, sound, user experience, and interactive design, our students develop critical thinking, design, and collaborative skills.

Job Summary: The Digital and Interactive Media Production Program at Daytona State College is seeking a dynamic individual with extensive experience in art, design, and technology to fill a tenure-track faculty position. This role may include teaching in one or more of the following subjects:
- Digital Design/Graphic Design
- User Experience (UX) Design
- User Interface (UI) Design
We are particularly interested in candidates with industry-standard UI/UX experience and proficiency in tools such as Figma. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds and are seeking emerging or established professionals/educators in digital media who are committed to fostering cross-disciplinary skills in the classroom. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively in a rapidly evolving creative environment.
Emphasis in User Experience Design
We are searching for candidates with familiarity in the following areas: user experience design, user research methods, interaction design, user interface design for web and mobile apps, emerging technologies, accessibility design, inclusive design, critical design theory, and front-end development technologies.
Required Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in relevant field
• Industry-related work experience in Digital Media
• University-level teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
· Doctorate or MFA in media studies or a similarly aligned field of study.
· Broad knowledge of time-based digital strategies common in contemporary art and design.
· Experience with curriculum building and/or program development.
· Experience and evidence of excellence in teaching at multiple levels.
· Demonstrated commitment to an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and personal practice.
· Demonstrated commitment to community engagement.
· Experience with industry-standard UI/UX tools, particularly Figma.
· Experience as an Apple Developer, particularly in developing for Apple Vision OS.
· Broad knowledge and experience with DaVinci Resolve, Adobe CC, Ableton Live, MAX, and/or other similar software.
· An understanding of contemporary, theoretical, and historical concepts in art and design, with the ability to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving in the classroom.
· Experience working collaboratively with others in an academic and/or professional environment.
Key Responsibilities: This is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.
- Teaches assigned courses.
- Assists in curriculum development, course reports, and textbook selection.
- Uses instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
- Communicates effectively and efficiently with students.
- Provides written course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
- Uses appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
- Applies classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
- Implements student assessment policies, such as testing or observation of skills.
- Submits grades or other course assessment reports in a timely manner.
- Manages routine classroom responsibilities in a professional manner.
Professional Development:
- Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
- Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
- Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.
College Responsibilities and Service:
- Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
- Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
- Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
- Records student attendance as necessary.
- Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Knowledge of areas of discipline to be taught.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
- Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
- Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
- Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
