Rank:  Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

 

Salary:  Nine-month position.  Competitive salary depending on experience.  The College also provides a comprehensive benefits package.

Required Qualifications:  This faculty position requires a master’s degree in nursing, from an accredited institution, with two (2) years of recent, clinical nursing experience.  In addition, the candidate must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Florida.

 

Desired Qualifications:  Prior classroom teaching and simulation facilitation experience is preferred.

 

 Key ResponsibilitiesThis is not a comprehensive list of responsibilities.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies & equipment in nursing skills laboratories for each campus.
  • Prepare and submit requisitions for supplies and equipment.
  • Establish and maintain positive relations with vendors and potential laboratory supplies and/or equipment donors.
  • Attend monthly Associate Degree (AD) and Practical (PN) Nursing faculty meetings.
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide committees as assigned.
  • Participate as a member of the Volusia Flagler Clinical Consortium.
  • Participate as a member of the School of Nursing Advisory Committee.
  • Chair/Co-Chair the School of Nursing resource committee.
  • Function as liaison with nursing faculty to identify faculty resources.
  • Function as liaison with the Academic Support Center.
  • Coordinate with the college’s Information Technology department to maintain computer laboratories.  

  

Professional Development:

  • Participates in activities that advance professional competencies and teaching skills.
  • Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
  • Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.

 

College Responsibilities and Service:

  • Serving on department, school, and college-wide committees.
  • Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
  • Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
  • Records student attendance as necessary.
  • Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 

  • Possess a broad knowledge base of the roles and responsibilities of the certified nursing assistant, licensed practical nurse, and registered nurse prepared at the associate degree and baccalaureate level.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
  • Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
