Teaching opportunities may be available for Fact-to-Face classes at all Daytona State Campuses and/or fully online classes.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:  This position requires a Master’s degree in English, or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate-level semester hours in English from an accredited college or university.  Candidates must be credentialed to teach all levels of English. Teaching experience preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in using an online learning management system.

 

Essential Functions/Duties:

  • Teach courses in accordance with college and departmental policies and procedures, as well as Master Course Descriptions.
  • Provide a course syllabus which includes classroom policies, procedures, grading, and learning outcomes.
  • Use instructional technology methods when presenting course content.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with students.
  • Organize class activities, assignments, and assessments, relating them to the overall student learning outcomes of the course.
  • Use appropriate and up-to-date course materials, including learning objectives, texts, and supplementary teaching materials.
  • Apply classroom management strategies in face to face, hybrid, and/or online format.
  • Prepare and submit timely grade reports, attendance verification, and other reports on student performance as may be scheduled or required.

     

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of areas  of discipline to be taught.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
  • Commitment to the community college mission, the characteristics and challenges of community college students, and innovative and effective teaching.
  • Knowledge and understanding of principles of curriculum development.
  • Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.

Note: All Adjunct positions are part-time, temporary assignments (for no more than one semester at a time) dependent upon student enrollment and the instructional needs of the College.
