Responsibilities 

Crowley is actively hiring Second Mates in our CPRS fleet. This position does require the candidate to join the Seafarers' International Union (SIU) as part of their onboarding after accepting a job offer. Under the supervision of the Master and Chief Mate, the Second Mate is responsible for safe navigation of the vessel on their watch and traditional supervisory duties. Also responsible for the proper execution of the master's orders, supervision of the crew during deck operations and maintenance activities.  Maintains a proper navigational watch, vessel logs, navigation charts, etc.

Required Skills

Minimum Qualifications and Credentials 

  • MMC-
    • Required STCW Endorsements and Training
      • OICNW
      • VPDSD
      • Basic Training
      • Advanced Firefighting
    • Mate of Towing Vessel
    • Mate 1600 Gross Tons or equivalent (3M-Unlimited) w/Oceans Endorsement
    • Mate on Vessels less than 3000 GT (international)
    • Able Seafarer Deck 
    • Lifeboatman endorsement 
  • STCW Medical Certificate – we require the STCW Expiration Date to be valid
  • TWIC badge- Not to expire within three months
  • Valid Passport – Not to expire within six months     
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook      

Preferred Qualifications & Skills  

  • Helm Connect maintenance software experience
  • Experience in the operation of a double drum tow winch
  • Shipyard Competent Person

Pay

  • Base Day Rate - $658
