Responsibilities:
Crowley is actively hiring an experienced Hull Tech for our CPRS fleet in Jacksonville, FL. This position will be responsible for attending vessel discharges in support of cargo operation to address any trailer hitch malfunctions or ballasting problems. Also responsible for performing regular maintenance on auxiliary diesels and generators in addition to regular fueling duties of associated tanks.
This position does require the candidate to join the Seafarers International Union as part of their onboarding after accepting a job offer.
Required Experience
Minimum Qualifications and Credentials
- Service vessel operating equipment, i.e., ballast system valves, pumps, motors and ballast water treatment system.
- Includes short notice repairs during cargo operations as well as trouble shooting for permanent repairs in vessel tanks.
- Conduct basic electrical & cargo lighting repairs.
- Complete trailer hitch maintenance and repairs on vessel and in the shop.
- Assemble for emergency vessel repairs, which may require use of submersible / diaphragm pumps, burning and welding for in-tank repairs.
- Prepare vessel for inspections. Provide an ongoing survey as requested for representative voids and tanks.
- Coordinate staging and removal of contractor equipment, steel, rub-rail, and other materials during vessel repairs periods.
- Support ballasting operations to include ballast water treatment system as required.
- Dispatch to other Crowley terminals i.e., Philadelphia, Port Everglades, San Juan, etc. for vessel repairs on site, specialized loadouts, and ballasting.
- Follow all company policies and procedures.
- Always maintain up to date contact phone numbers with shoreside engineering.
- Maintain all Company or other regulatory certifications(i.e. OSHA, Audiogram, Hepatitis vaccination or wavier, IAS forklift operator, etc.)
- Assist with the maintenance and repair of the triple deck ramp as well as the work barge in addition to other equipment laid up at the terminal facility.
Preferred Experience:
- Shipyard competent person certified, welding, burning, and general ship repair experience.
Other Required Qualifications and Credentials:
- Dock, winch, rigging repairs
- Repairs to Company pool vehicles, etc.
- Operation of mooring equipment & assist with mooring vessels
- Chipping and painting vessels
- Tank and bilge cleaning
- Preparing vessels for cargo; dunnage, car decking etc.
- Assists AB dock worker with assigned projects.
- TWIC
- Valid Driver's License
- U.S. passport
Hitch
- MUST have the ability to report to work under two (2) hours of notification when on call.
- ALL work performed out of town or outside the country shall be paid at a minimum of twelve (12) hours per day.
- Shall receive ten (10) paid sick days a year - may be required to provide the company a Fit for Duty or Not Fit for Duty prior to returning to work.
- Ten (10) SIU contracted holidays shall be paid holidays. If not worked, they shall be paid eight (8) hours at the applicable straight time rate of pay.
Pay
- $35.14/hour
This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation, including hourly wages or salary, benefits, and other terms of employment, will be in accordance with the applicable union contract. Specific pay rates and benefits will be provided during the hiring process and are based on the terms outlined in the agreement.
