Required Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Crowley is actively hiring for an Second Mate in our offshore operations. This position, under the supervision of the Master and Chief Mate, will be responsible for safe navigation of the vessel on their watch and traditional supervisory duties. Also responsible for the proper execution of the master's orders, supervision of the crew during deck operations and maintenance activities. Maintains a proper navigational watch, vessel logs, navigation charts, etc.

This position does require the candidate to join the Seafarers International Union as part of their onboarding after accepting a job offer.


Required Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Credentials

  • Mate 1600GRT or equivalent (3M Unlimited) with Oceans 
  • Mate on vessels less than 3000GT (International)
  • Mate of Towing Vessels
  • Lifeboatman
  • STCW with all required endorsements
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no felonies, DUI, or other convictions which would restrict entry into Canada or other nations.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Familiarity with deck maintenance including planning and supervision

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Helm Connect maintenance software experience
  • Experience in the operation of a double drum tow winch
  • Shipyard Competent Person
  • Pilotage
  • Kongsberg Dynamic Positioning experienced preferred
  • Proficient in Z-Drive vessels
  • Unlimited/Limited DP Certificate recognized by the Nautical Institute

 

Hitch

  • 30/30

Pay

  • $691.21/Daily Rate

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation, including hourly wages or salary, benefits, and other terms of employment, will be in accordance with the applicable union contract.  Specific pay rates and benefits will be provided during the hiring process and are based on the terms outlined in the agreement.
