Required Skills

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Crowley is actively hiring a Temporary Captain supporting our East Coast Offshore operations. This is a temporary position requires someone who carry a safe and efficient operation of the vessel at all times including maneuvering the tug and barge. Ensuring that performance of vessel & crew are in compliance with all Safety & Security directives as well as other Company Procedures & Guidelines and Regulatory Agency requirements. They must have the ability to ensure that proper and timely communications are maintained with appropriate shoreside management. Primary responsibility for all matters regarding vessel activity including, but not limited to: administration, navigation, operational matters, engineering matters, crew supervision, and crew training.

This position does require the candidate to join the Seafarers International Union (SIU) as part of their onboarding after accepting a job offer.


Required Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Credentials

  • Master 500GT upon Oceans
  • Master on vessels less than 3000GT (International)
  • Master of Towing Vessels upon Oceans
  • Valid STCW with all required endorsements 9including, but not limited to OICNW, RADAR/ARPA, ECDIS, and Advanced Firefighting)
  • Proficient with Z-Drive tugs
  • Ability to perform in a leadership role and promote the Safety Management System
  • Aptitude for the supervision of vessel personnel
  • Familiarity with all vessel documentation and paperwork
  • Valid TWIC
  • Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no felonies, or other convictions which would restrict entry into Canada or other nations.

 

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Master 1600GT upon Oceans License
  • Strong knowledge of the operation and maintenance of all vessel electronics and deck machinery
  • Shipyard Competent Person
  • Designated Examiner (TOAR) / Qualified Assessor (QA)
  • Helm Vessel Management software experience

 

Hitch

  • 28/28 rotation

Pay

  • $947.30/Daily

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Compensation, including hourly wages or salary, benefits, and other terms of employment, will be in accordance with the applicable union contract.  Specific pay rates and benefits will be provided during the hiring process and are based on the terms outlined in the agreement.
