About this Position
Crowley is seeking an experienced tugboat engineer in our Western Alaska Crowley Fuels tug and barge fleet. This position is a great fit for someone looking for adventure! Have you ever wanted to see a walrus or a polar bear at work? This is your chance! The Western Alaska fleet operates on a seasonal basis from approximately April through October or about 150 days. This position does require the candidate to join the United Steel Workers union as a condition of employment.
Desired Experience and Credentials
3+ years of hands-on marine engine maintenance & repair experience.
Experience with the following engine types preferred:
- CAT 343D
- Detroit Diesel 35KW
- John Deere 4045
- Caterpillar
- 3406E DITA
- 3304 DITA
- 3412
- C6.6
- C15
- C18
- 3606
STCW Minimum Qualifications:
· Basic Training
· Personal Survival Craft
· Vessel Personnel w/ Designated Security Duties
STCW Preferred Qualifications (in addition to above):
· Rating Forming Part of an Engineering Watch (RFPEW)
· Able Seafarer - Engine
National (Domestic) Minimum Qualifications:
· Designated Duty Engineer 1000HP/750kW
· Lifeboatman
· Steward
National (Domestic) Preferred Qualifications:
· Designated Duty Engineer 4000 HP/3000kW or higher
Other Required Credentials:
· TWIC
· Valid Passport - must be able to travel internationally with no restriction.
· Must be Current on medical and training requirements.
