The Level 4 Cyber Defense Adviser serves as a senior operations lead within the cyber defense team, conducting advanced analysis, correlation, and threat reporting across enterprise environments. This role leads high-impact investigations, authors threat trend reports, and mentors junior analysts to strengthen the organization’s cyber defense posture in accordance with DoD and CJCSM 6510.01B requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead detection, investigation, and escalation activities for complex or coordinated cyber incidents
  • Provide real-time and retrospective analysis of network traffic to identify adversary TTPs
  • Correlate multiple information streams (e.g., logs, alerts, IOCs, all-source intelligence) to establish attack narratives and response strategies
  • Perform in-depth analysis of network anomalies using metadata and packet-level data
  •   Identify applications and operating systems through traffic analysis for network fingerprinting
  •  Generate daily operational summaries of key cyber events and patterns
  • Conduct cyber threat trend analysis and develop reporting products for leadership and stakeholders
  • Analyze malicious activity to assess vulnerabilities, threat actor behavior, and potential system impacts
  • Coordinate and share threat intelligence across enterprise cyber teams and JFHQ-DoDIN
  •  Develop SOPs and playbooks to enhance repeatability and maturity of response activities
  • Mentor junior analysts and provide quality assurance on event triage and incident response actions
  • Maintain awareness of evolving threats and continuously assess detection coverage

 

Qualifications

  • TS/SCI
  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
  • 8 to 11 years of relevant experience in defensive cyber operations
  • Substitution Option: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional four (4) years of directly relevant experience may be substituted (e.g., 12–15 years total experience without a degree)
  • Must possess one of the following active certifications:

      - Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

     - Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CCSLP)

      - CompTIA Cloud+

     - CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+)
