DevSecOps Engineer

Core4ce is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer/Architect with deep expertise in containerization, cloud, and secure software delivery—along with a strong focus on managing and optimizing GitLab implementations for a large Department of Defense (DoD) program. This role combines advanced engineering and architecture skills with the ability to streamline development workflows, enforce security policies, and enable continuous delivery through integrated DevSecOps pipelines.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of GitLab-based DevSecOps pipelines, including CI/CD configuration, runner management, repository governance, and integration with Kubernetes environments.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for GitLab administration, Kubernetes operations, and container lifecycle management.
- Engineer and maintain existing container orchestration platforms (Rancher, OpenShift, Kubernetes), ensuring high availability, scalability, and security compliance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand mission requirements, identify pain points, and deliver best-of-breed container, cloud, and DevSecOps solutions.
- Sustain and optimize Kubernetes clusters for development, staging, and production environments, integrating GitLab with supporting tools such as Harbor, ArgoCD, Keycloak, and Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (Stackrox).
- Support system architecture design, implementation, and modernization initiatives in Linux environments.
- Manage accounts, network rights, and system resources to ensure optimal performance, capacity, availability, and recoverability.
- Implement and maintain security procedures, DevSecOps guardrails, and compliance controls aligned with DoD accreditation requirements.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure, software interface, and interoperability challenges across distributed systems.
- Ensure rigorous application of cybersecurity and information assurance principles throughout the development and deployment process.
Requirements:
- Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.
- 3-5 years managing GitLab implementations, including CI/CD pipeline creation, runner management, repository configuration, access control, and security policy enforcement.
- 3+ years designing, deploying, and maintaining hardened Kubernetes clusters and orchestration platforms (Rancher, OpenShift), including environment installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- 2+ years with Amazon AWS services, including EC2, S3, EBS, Load Balancers, and RDS.
- 4+ years administering and hardening Linux Operating Systems, preferably Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
- Experience with Kubernetes-related tools: GitLab, Harbor, ArgoCD, Red Hat Advanced Cluster Security (Stackrox), Keycloak.
- Familiarity operating within DoD networks, access controls, and security/accreditation requirements.
- Ability to obtain Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification within 6 months.
Preferred Experience:
- Gitlab, CI/CD, RKE2.
- Experience in Agile DevSecOps environments.
