COLSA is seeking a junior level data scientist with Tableau admin functions experience to join the NCAPS Team. Candidate selected for this role will perform duties and responsibilities such as:
- Developing and publishing new assets.
- Building dashboards in Tableau or Power BI.
- Stakeholder Engagement re: scope and core questions.
- Building new data sources.
- Using Alteryx, SQL, Power Query and/or workbook level calculated fields to combine existing data sources and/or create new data sources that support the new business need being identified.
- Validating business logic and documenting clearly.
- Publishing, sharing, and training users on new assets and incorporating feedback.
- Publishing dashboards to Tableau Server or Power BI service.
- Creating data update processes/cadence.
- Creating documentation.
- Maintaining existing assets.
- Monitoring data refresh process and confirming that data is updating in dashboards as expected and on the proper cadence.
- Troubleshooting restoring service to dashboards when errors arise.
- Proactively communicating data outages or data quality issues to end users.
- Reviewing portfolio of data assets on an ongoing basis to assess usage and identify opportunities for asset consolidation or retirement.
- Evaluating performance of existing assets (load speed, lag on interactivity) and enhancing when possible.
- Supporting/training new users of the platform. and ensuring permissions align with business need.

Required Experience
- Bachelors degree or higher in computer science, data science, engineering, math, statistics, operations research or related technical field
- Two years experience in data science or related field
- U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to undergo a background investigation for a position of NASA Public Trust
- Experience with Tableau
- Design Skill - information is well organized and has appropriate level of polish for asset use case and longevity
