General Summary

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential functions)

  • Support the day-to-day technical operations of the AvMC CIO/G6. Non-routine after hours support may be required (24x7x365) to support network maintenance, emergency operations, or unique mission requirements.
  • Provide support during off duty hours as needed to keep the network operational and perform maintenance/configuration changes in order to minimize workforce impact during normal duty hours.
  • Perform maintenance of system infrastructure to include defined regularly scheduled maintenance times for updates, patches, and migration of systems. Maintenance includes patch management, vulnerability remediation/mitigation, configuration management, firmware obsolescence adjudication, capability enhancements, and updates.
  • Perform lifecycle management of the AvMC network and IT infrastructure to include supporting vendor capability updates and managing End of Life (EoL)/obsolescence risks for AvMC information systems.
  • Develop plans, with roll back options, for upgrades, patches, and migrations of AvMC systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network equipment and operating systems.
  • Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems.
  • Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access.
  • Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses.
  • May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.
  • Perform and support Configuration Management (CM) activities for information systems hardware and software. 
  • Develop and maintain an AMRULI baseline image IAW the latest Secure Host Baseline (SHB) or approved DoD baseline and provide documented instructions on how to reproduce that image. 
  • Perform CM activities for configuration identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits. 
  • Utilize automated tools provided by the Government to maintain hardware information that addresses the manufacturer, type, model, machine name, product description, version, Internet Protocol (IP) Address, Mission Assurance Category (MAC), location, operating system, and status. 
  • Utilize automated tools provided by the Government to maintain software information that addresses the software product name, version, type, and licensing status. 
  • Support the Information System (IS) CM requirements for all information system activities to ensure all changes to an accredited system are documented in the RMF accreditation package. 
  • Contribute to the security accreditation of applications, as it relates to mission network support and operations. 
  • Provide the technical data and computer data needed for the mission network to assist with the submission of RMF data. 
  • Control connections, access to the mission network, user accounts, and privileges. 
  • Provide data and information regarding the overall system security, as it relates to mission network support. 
  • Work with the security team to identify, fix, and provide information regarding resolving vulnerabilities, and computer incidents.

Required Experience

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or the equivalent experience
  • Minimum of eight years work related experience
  • Working knowledge of desktop applications including word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
  • US Citizenship Required; Must be able to obtain/maintain a DoD clearance
  • Must be able to obtain Security+CE within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Security+CE certification
  • Active DoD clearance
  • Experience with design, implementation, upgrades and operations of F5 appliances and application security products is preferred.
  • Experience with DoD/DISA STIG implementation is preferred.
