The purpose of this position is to support the Engineering Department by creating a Savings Dashboard that illustrates how much money is saved by using In-house design and project management services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects and analyses historical data from Divoco on hours spent per position for each project.
- Collects data of competitive hourly rates for similar positions in the private sector.
- Performs analysis of rates to determine the amount of savings per task, project phase, project total, department total, total per year and grand total.
- Displays results on the intranet in a clear and visually engaging format. Supports Engineering Team as needed with various department activities.
- Assists permitting, survey, construction and design teams as needed with tying in Strategic Plan Goals to metrics on the Engineering Intranet Page.
Supplemental Functions:
- Performs other similar duties as required.
Job Specifications and Qualifications:
Knowledge:
- Civil engineering principles and practices
- Mathematical concepts
- Applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations
- Basic GIS concepts
- Technical writing techniques
Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Positions in this class require: fine dexterity, sitting, reaching, handling, climbing, vision, hearing, twisting, talking.
- Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.
Required Skills
- Operating a computer and applicable software applications including Office, Excel, and Power Point.

- Researching and solving engineering problems
- Compiling and analyzing engineering data
- Preparing reports
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
Required Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and at least six-months of advanced study and currently enrolled in an undergraduate program studying Engineering or a closely related field at an accredited college or university.
