The purpose of this position is to provide tactical and intelligence analysis to the Office of the Chief of Police, Patrol Bureau and Operations Bureau in an effort to prevent, deter and solve crimes or social disorder
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collects data and performs intelligence and tactical analysis of crime trends, criminal activity, and ongoing criminal enterprise.
- Creates and disseminate crime reports that exhibit compiled data into charts, tables, and graphs in written and digital/electronic formats.
- Develops and maintains automated reporting using SQL statements and Crystal Reports software.
- Supervises staff by prioritizing and assigning work, conducting performance evaluations, ensuring staff are trained and follow policies and procedures, maintaining a healthy and safe working environment, and making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
- Presents crime analysis and/or statistics as directed by the Chief of Police.
- Provides training, continuous guidance and technical assistance to ensure effective and efficient use of the electronic criminal analysis systems and projects.

Required Licensing and Certifications:
- Valid North Carolina Driver’s License or ability to obtain a Valid North Carolina Driver's License within sixty (60) days from date of hire. Failure to obtain within 60 days from date of hire may result in termination.
PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements:
- Positions in this class require: fine dexterity, sitting, vision, hearing, handling, twisting, standing, walking, talking.
- Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally or negligible weights frequently; sitting most of the time.

Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Statistics or related field, with at least two (2) years of relevant and supervisory experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
