The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of the public by providing a safe and organized environment for patrons in and around the pool.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Performs daily patrol of the pool, effectively communicates all pool rules, regulations and guidelines, identifies and communicates any safety concerns to supervisor(s), maintains proper required paperwork, and files accident reports and active saves/rescue reports as needed. Checks pool chemicals daily to ensure compliance. Provides swimming lessons in accordance of facility operations and maintains all paperwork associated with swimming lessons. Assists in admission and concessions as needed. Maintains cleanliness of facility by providing proper maintenance to pool grounds.

Supplemental Functions: Performs other similar duties as required.

Job Specifications and Qualifications: Knowledge of Aquatic life saving techniques; Cash-handling. Skills in Identifying and accessing of problematic situations, Moderate communication skills; Basic math; Basic computer skills.

Licensing and Certifications: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent; CPR and First Aid Certified.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: Position requires: climbing, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Required Experience

The ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes and the routine operation of machines with under and including one year experience; or the City may consider an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
