The Role
Supervises and coordinates activities of production employees and complies with all safety, quality, and operational performance standards.
Required Skills

· Assists Manager to ensure daily production schedules are met, ensuring compliance with customer expectations, quality, and safety.
· Interprets specifications and job orders for employees, and assigns duties.
· Works with Manager and other production areas to resolve daily production issues such as material, delivery, quality, and employee performance.
· Forecasts staffing needs to meet peak demands of the business. Plans operations and utilization of skills and staffing to assure timely production and quality standards for all production shifts.
· Anticipates production problems and, where feasible, devises and implements procedures to offset loss of staffing hours and interruptions.
· Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
· Monitors and reports daily production results, material usage, waste, and downtime.
· Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of department or work team.
· Manages personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.
· Monitors conformance with company work rules, policies and procedures; administers disciplinary measures when necessary.
· Coordinates with Quality Control to maintain quality standards; takes appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies.
· Assists Manager and Quality team in identifying non-conformance causes and assists in non-conformance dispositioning by utilizing skills and technical research.
· Assists Manager and Quality team in analyzing and collecting data related to manufacturing issues.
· Working with the Manager and Quality team, develops documentation of manufacturing instructions and quality control processes.
· Completes required portions of the various QC inspection forms and reports while performing inspection and test procedures.
· Tracks Daily Quality Outputs and publishes reports to keep others informed of basic quality issues, trends and corrective action items. Makes suggestions for improvements or corrections.
· Applies lean production techniques, and supervises the development of teams, stations or cells to support the process.
Required Experience
· B.S. Degree in Manufacturing and Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or appropriate technical discipline preferred. In lieu of degree, ten+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Three years’ experience in an applicable manufacturing operation; working knowledge of lean principles.
· Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
