Te Whiwhinga Mahi | The Opportunity 
At Chorus, we’re entering a pivotal stage in our journey, and we’re looking for a strategic communicator who thrives on making an impact. As our Head of Corporate Relations, you’ll lead the development and delivery of our corporate relations strategy, helping shape how we show up across media, government, industry, and the communities we serve. This role is more than just communications; it’s about building trust, driving connection, and making sure our strategic priorities are not only understood, but supported.
 
You’ll be a key advisor to our Chief Executive, Executive Team, and Board, offering clear direction on reputation management, public positioning, and stakeholder engagement. From front-footing issues and supporting social impact initiatives, to navigating the evolving media and political landscape, you’ll ensure that every message we share reflects our purpose and supports our business goals.
 
This is a leadership role, so we’re looking for someone who’s confident mentoring a talented team, influencing at the highest levels, and bringing together insights from across the organisation to drive cohesive, thoughtful communication. If you’re someone who sees the bigger picture, understands the nuances of regulated environments, and knows how to manage risk while creating opportunity, we’d love to hear from you.
 
Ō Wheako, ō Pūkenga | Your Experience 
You’re a seasoned professional in corporate relations or public affairs, with the confidence and capability to operate at a senior level. You understand how to navigate complex environments, influence at the top table, and lead a team with clarity and purpose. Your experience tells a story of both strategic oversight and hands-on delivery.
 
Here’s what we’re looking for:
• At least 10 years’ experience in corporate relations, public affairs, or a related field
• Proven ability to lead in a complex, matrixed or agile environment
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR, Business or a related field (advanced qualifications a bonus)
• A solid grasp of business operations and commercial drivers
• Deep understanding of today’s media landscape and how to leverage it effectively
• Excellent writing skills and the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences
• Strong leadership skills, you know how to mentor, guide and build team capability
• Strategic thinking with a track record of designing and delivering communication plans that drive impact
• Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder engagement abilities
• Experience working within regulated sectors or policy-influenced industries
• Confidence managing reputational risk and navigating crisis communication scenarios
• Political awareness and ideally, relationships or the ability to build connections across the political spectrum
