*This is a part-time position (15-19 hours per week) and pay is based on the educational degree the applicant holds. A high school diploma is $15.00 per hour, an associate's degree is $17.50 per hour, and a bachelor's Degree is $20.00 per hour. *

Position Summary

The Academic Coach is a grant-funded position that is primarily responsible for assisting with monthly student meetings, helping students with goal setting and academics, assisting seniors in completing college admissions and financial aid applications, and other special activities to carry out the goals and objectives of the CWC GEAR UP WY grant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Monitor and support student academic success during school hours, lunchtimes, and after school
  2. Assist students in making academic plans and setting goals
  3. Maintain confidential participant records and attendance
  4. Schedule and coordinate student activities
  5. Assist in scheduling and facilitating early college awareness workshops for participating students and their parents
  6. Provide ACT preparation and other college entrance exams
  7. Assists senior students in completing college applications and financial aid documents
  8. Perform other reasonably related duties as directed or assigned
  9. Knowledge of and skill in use of computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Platform
  10. Operate within the framework established by CWC’s policies, procedures, and practices
  11. Recruit students to the program


Position Specifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education
    • High school diploma or the equivalency. College coursework in education, social work, psychology, or sociology from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the US Department of Education is preferred
  • Experience
  • One year of directly-related experience working with educationally disadvantaged student-populations
  • Experience working directly with middle/high school students
  • Licenses/Certifications
    • Driver’s License
    • CPR certification – can be completed after hire
    • Criminal background screening (no cost to employee)
  • Equivalency Statement
    • Equivalent combinations of education and experience with comparable knowledge and abilities may be considered

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of federal and special population programs
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree

Level of Supervision

This position operates with limited supervision under the guidance of the Program Manager for CWC GEAR UP WY.

Working Environment
