The Role

We’re looking for a well-rounded data scientist to join the Data Science team at Certilytics in support of our production model suite and ongoing development efforts. Our ideal candidate will possess a strong grounding in advanced statistical theory and deep understanding of advanced machine learning disciplines. This person is the traditional data scientist who exhibits strong skills in programming (Python, Java, SQL) and foundational knowledge in a wide range of theoretical disciplines such as classical statistical and machine learning, artificial neural networks, among others. As part of our team you will focus on grounding our methodologies in theory and expanding data science capabilities and breadth within the organization.


What You'll Accomplish

    • Support our existing production model suite, responsible for serving more than 500 million predictions each week.
    • Develop new models and techniques to identity emerging clinical and financial risk
    • Ensure our models and analyses are mathematically sound.
    • Write research-quality documentation to demonstrate the theoretical grounding of our work.

Required Skills

What You’ll Need

  • Data science related programming skills as evidenced by 3+ years of hands-on experience with statistical software tools and scripting languages, preferably Python.
  • You should also be familiar with Git and Markdown and possess a solid grasp of algorithms and data structures.
  • Graduate level statistical and mathematical background via a Masters in a quantitative discipline (e.g., statistics, mathematics, physics, computer science, operations research).
  • Strong writing skills in academic-style writing.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and answer complex questions that arise from various teams.
  • Ability to distill difficult concepts down to layman’s terms.
  • Comfort with data big and small.

Required Experience

How to stand out!

  • PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • 1-2 Years of post-graduate industry experience.
  • A flair for data visualization.
  • Domain experience in a healthcare-related industry.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure), containerization (docker and kubernetes), and/or distributed computing (e.g., Spark).
