Cardi's Furniture is looking for a responsible individual to maintain our showrooms. The external and internal appearance of a building reflects on the occupants. It is important for the Maintenance Associate to be careful and thorough in working, cleaning and tidying the premises.
PAYS $16.00 HOURLY
JOB SUMMARY
Primary purpose is to win each day by delivering extraordinary service and value to each customer, every day. A Warehouse Maintenance Associate is responsible for producing favorable outcomes for all customers, fellow team members, the company and the communities we serve.
Maintains the showroom interior and exterior appearance in all aspects and handles customer pick-ups in the showroom in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, and productivity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Performs the routine cleaning of floor areas and non-floor areas, including: sweeping, dusting, window/glass washing, sink scrubbing, vacuuming, toilet cleaning, mopping, spill clean-up, spot cleaning.
o Dusting track lights, ceiling vents, furniture and furniture accessories throughout the showroom and offices.
o Washing walls, glass windows, floors and waste buckets.
o Vacuum floors and rugs.
o Maintain clean tile floors throughout the store.
o Clean escalators and elevators.
o Dust furniture and furniture accessories in office and on the floor in stores, as assigned.
• Performs the following daily activities:
o Cleaning and maintaining sanitary conditions of restrooms and breakrooms and replenishing supplies.
o Wipe down phones
o Empty trash receptacles daily by practicing safe and secure trash disposal methods.
o Clean glass entry doors
o Post signs to notify guests/associates of potential safety hazards (e.g. wet floors).
- Hangs rugs.
- Unload trailer and place product on showroom floor.
- Assist Design team as well as showroom managers.
- Changes light bulbs in the showroom/office as needed and adjusts to highlight product.
- Maintains outside areas (clean up trash, shovel snow and clear ice in walkways and all fire exits).
- Operates machinery such as trash compactor.
- Helps responds to requests from customers and showrooms.
- Reports any maintenance and/or environment issues, including leaking ceilings, insects, animals, etc. to management immediately.
- Operates manual and mechanical equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Provides assistance to showroom management and visual merchandisers as needed, including assisting in showroom floor arrangement.
- Adheres to safe lifting techniques, follow proper training for learned job hazards and ergonomic risk factors, and overall maintains a safe working environment.
- Maintains stock levels of take with items.
- Maintains carts, tools, strollers, and supplies as assigned.
- Cleans strollers weekly.
- Maintains quality of furniture, which includes ordering replacement merchandise when needed or arranging for repair of damaged goods. Reports merchandise damage through appropriate channels.
- Stages or preps merchandise, including unwrap merchandise, inspect for damage, dust merchandise, assemble/attach parts and other tasks as required.
- Ensures that all transfers are pulled and tagged correctly, and loaded safely onto the truck.
- Ensures the distribution center receives all necessary transfer information and it is entered correctly in the computer system.
• Handles customer pick-ups:
o Handles customer pick-ups in accordance with department procedures.
o Assists customer with questions regarding their purchase; directing them to the appropriate associate if the answer is not readily available or known.
o Promotes loss prevention by verifying customer sales order paperwork and immediately follows-up on suspicious activity.
o Ensures merchandise is loaded and secured in the customer’s vehicle in a safe and courteous manner and in accordance with department procedures.
• Reports promptly errors found to management and assists, if necessary, in resolving the errors.
• Provides feedback to management for possible improvements.
• Assists with training and development of other associates, including on-the-job training for new associates.
• Participates in training sessions, which will improve and reinforce own knowledge and skills.
- Attend department / company meetings as required.
- Maintains a safe working environment by keeping racks, aisles and work areas organized and clean and conducts walk around safety checks.
- Adheres to company safety policy by conducting operations in a manner that promotes safety, such as using personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times required, operating manual and mechanical equipment in a safe manner, un-boxing using a utility knife in a safe manner, adhering to safe lifting techniques, and following proper training for learned job hazards and ergonomic risk factors.
- Operates manual and mechanical equipment, such as dollies and/or hand trucks, in a safe and efficient manner to move or hoist product to proper area/location.
- Reports promptly any machinery concerns to management.
- Provides total customer satisfaction through interaction, cooperation and working with associates and managers in all departments. This includes translating with non-English speaking customers if able.
- Complies with all applicable company health, safety and quality standards, policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
- Reports to management potential safety issues, hazards or violations.
- Assists in maintaining security by reporting suspicious activity to management,

This position only has management/Supervisory Responsibilities if is in a Lead Maintenance role, Otherwise No management or supervisory responsibilities required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work performed in showroom, back room and outside environment. The employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Exposure to high temperatures during summer months and low temperatures during winter months while performing daily responsibilities. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones, and standard warehouse equipment/machinery such as hand trucks, box cutters, and inventory scanners.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is required to continuously walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, climb push/pull, grip and reach above shoulder level. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 100 pounds unassisted, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 150 pounds with assistance. Must be able to go up on ladders to access heights up to 15 feet.
Required Experience
Education/Certification/Licensure:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred but not required.
Experience
Prior related experience and or training preferred but not required.
