Role Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Senior Accountant is a key member of the accounting team.  The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing a variety of accounting tasks with a focus on GL account reconciliations and account analysis. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly journal entries ensuring proper documentation.
  • Prepare account analyses, including balance sheet and PL results, with a focus on automating and improving cash reconciliation process.
  •  Review and analyze the organization's processes and procedures and identify and recommend improvements.
  •  Maintain fixed asset and related depreciation schedules.
  • Assist with analysis and preparation of monthly financial statements for timely distribution to management.
  • Serve as back-up to accounts payable function including but not limited to verifying invoices, expense reports, check requests, and purchase requisitions; entering data into accounts payable system; and processing weekly check runs.
  • Assist with annual external audits.
  • Assist with special projects as requested, demonstrating flexibility and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Solid understanding of GAAP
  • Proven experience in performing month-end close procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Effective communicator, both in writing and verbally, across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively execute on a small team and build relationships across the business proactively.
  • Self-starter with a take-charge & “roll-up sleeves” attitude.
  • B.S in Accounting and CPA, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge of accounting principles for GAAP and an ability to interpret the impact of new accounting principles.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Comfortable dealing with deadlines
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; CPA certification is a plus.
  • 5+ years’ experience in an accounting role
  • Food industry, CPG or other Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and financial reporting systems; working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 a plus.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
