Instructors in this position may be assigned to teach a full range of lower-division biology courses, to include but not be limited to: Anatomy & Physiology (BIOL 227, BIOL 228) and General Biology (BIOL 201). These courses serve a predominantly pre-health student population, including students pursuing nursing, physical therapist assistant, paramedic, dental hygiene, and radiologic technology programs. Duties also include student tutoring and advising. The person filling this position must have a strong commitment to undergraduate science teaching and a broad foundation in life sciences.

 

Salary: $48,000 (MS, 9-month contract) to $51,000 (Ph.D., 9-month contract)

 

Timeline: Position starting in August 2026 or January 2027

 

Location: This position will be based in Twin Falls, ID with teaching duties happening (primarily) during alternative times (evenings and weekends).

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Teach a variable semester credit load as needed.
  • Develop and implement online and hybrid learning experiences that are consistent with CSI best practices in this area.
  • Devote a minimum of 37.5 hours per week to the institution, maintain appropriate office hours as determined by college policy, and bring to the attention of the immediate supervisor any conditions which might affect employment.
  • Provide collegial support to extracurricular activities that occur in the department. 
  • Assist the department chair in the development of semester schedules, textbooks, and outcomes assessment processes.
  • Participate in faculty development goals to improve professional effectiveness including the annual Learning Lab (first year) and other professional development opportunities to include a first-year onboarding process.  
  • Provide current copies of course syllabi to chairperson each semester.
  • Meet all scheduled classes promptly with any deviation being filed promptly and accurately through the appropriate channels.
  • Assume responsibility for giving exams and other measurements necessary to determine student level of performance and understanding.
  • Monitor student placement in courses and student progress; maintain accurate records.
  • Interact with and advise students.
  • Promote and help with learning assistance services.
  • Cooperate with other areas of the College to provide an effective educational program.
  • Assist in the preparation of budget requests for each year. 
  • Assume responsibility for all equipment assigned to the faculty member or to those under his or her supervision.
  • Attend and participate in all departmental, division, and faculty meetings.
  • Participate in graduation exercises.

 

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the relevant discipline or a closely related field. 
  • Experience teaching in-person anatomy and physiology or biology laboratory sections is required. Familiarity with anatomical models, histological specimens, or cadaveric/prosected materials is strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing or facilitating condensed or intensive lab formats within hybrid or online course structures is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with a learning management system (e.g., Canvas) and publisher platforms (e.g., Pearson Mastering) is strongly preferred.

  • Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of diversity within the community college student population, including students with different ability statuses (e.g., physical and/or learning) as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
  • Demonstrated ability to support first-generation, working adult, and pre-health students navigating the demands of rigorous science coursework.
  • Develop and maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with members of the college department, administration, and staff.
  • Develop and maintain courteous, professional, and effective working relationships with members of partner high school departments, administration, and staff.
  • Interact well with college students.
  • Have experience advising students.
  • Have experience integrating technology into instruction and implementing distance learning strategies.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

 

  • Use of computers in a multi-media classroom environment located throughout the campus.
  • Comfortable in online educational environments.
  • Ability to set up, maintain, and safely manage laboratory equipment and specimens in an in-person lab setting.
