Early Learning Partner - HS/EHS

Summary of Position:
The Early Learning Partner - EHS has the responsibility to collaborate with the Early Head Start Supervisor to ensure that direct cross component services as defined in Head Start/ Early Head Start Performance Standards are provided to toddlers and families assigned to their caseload. The Early Learning Partner - EHS has the tasks of overall record keeping, assisting in the classroom, and delivering services to families in their home. Early Learning Partner - EHS has responsibility to facilitate the involvement of parents in their toddler's education and their involvement in personal goal setting consistent with the family's culture.
Qualifications:
1. Credential or certification in social work, human services, family services, counseling or related field or obtain within 18 months of hire
2. One year experience working with infants/toddlers
3. One year experience working with families
4. Ability to communicate verbally
5. Ability to communicate in writing
6. Current driver’s license
7. Complete criminal record check from Department of Health & Welfare’s Criminal History Unit prior to consideration for hire
Additional:
· Associate or bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or closely related field
· College credits in the field of Health, Social Sciences or Education including Early Childhood, Adult or Special Education
· Fluency in Sign Language, Spanish or other language
· Ability to lift 50 pounds with reasonable accommodation
· Training specific to the Infant/Toddler High/Scope Curriculum
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Treat participants, fellow staff, and community members with positive regard.
2. Conduct monthly home visits with each toddler and their family assigned to the caseload.
3. Collaborate and attend first and last home visit with classroom teacher.
4. Carry out Infant/Toddler High/Scope curriculum and the Partners for Healthy Baby curriculum for child development in the context of contacts in the home.
5. The Early Learning Partner - EHS will spend a minimum of six hours total per week between assigned classrooms.
6. The Early Learning Partner - EHS will collaborate once per week for one hour minimum, with each toddler unit to make connections with monitoring child outcomes progress and follow up on 45/90-day tracking.
7. Provide education, social service, parent involvement, and health and nutrition services to assigned families as per the CSI Head Start/Early Head Start work plans with technical assistance from Early Head Start Coordinator.
8. Facilitate parental involvement in curriculum planning, program governance, and the overall Early Head Start program.
9. Observe and document the developmental level of each infant/toddler. Individualize using appropriate tools and information from parents, staff, and professionals to create an individualized plan for each enrolled toddler.
10. Participate in Individual Family Services Plan (IFSP) meetings for assigned toddlers with special needs taking the role of resource person and parent advocate. Collaborate with other staff and Disabilities Coordinator to ensure that all team members have the information necessary for effective participation in IFSP meetings.
11. Arrange a home visit schedule to meet the family’s needs. Collaborate with parents to develop home visit plans that meet the individual goals of the parent(s) and the toddler.
12. Complete the required curriculum on home visits as per work plans.
13. Serve as a resource person for families to facilitate access to social services within their communities.
14. Collaborate with center staff to recruit, train and support parent and community volunteers.
15. Complete Family Outcomes Assessments and Family Partnership Agreement and make appropriate referrals to assist parents in the development and implementation of their identified goals.
16. Share current information with parents related to infant/toddler progress and potential challenges.
17. Assist the Early Head Start Supervisor with recruitment activities as assigned.
18. Inform parents of Head Start/ Early Head Start's Child Abuse Policy and report suspected abuse as per Health & Nutrition Work Plan.
19. Collaborate with Early Head Start Coordinator to ensure completion of all health services, provide community health resource information and make necessary referrals.
20. Plan and carry out individualized health and nutrition education.
21. Assist families with arranging health appointments and provide transportation if necessary.
22. Complete documentation of home visits and other relevant activities.
23. Utilize and monitor Family Services Events and Family Services PIR in ChildPlus.
24. Maintain confidentiality of family records and information.
25. Track and monitor 45/90-day along with EPSDT timeline.
26. Participate in an individual continuing education plan including CPR and First Aid.
