Adjunct clinical faculty are professional educators whose primary responsibility is to facilitate student learning in meeting their goal to practice as Certified Nursing Assistants. Adjunct faculty teach, supervise clinicals and evaluate student performance. The faculty position requires expertise in teaching health and nursing assistant course(s). Faculty are licensed RNs and professional educators whose primary responsibility is to educate students in the nursing assistant and health-related programs as they strive to become professionals. Faculty act as role models to students and the college community. Efforts to improve instruction, student relationships and student retention are expected. Faculty at CSI are expected to always be prepared for class, enthusiastic, and committed to the ideal that all students can and will learn given an educational environment that is stimulating, compassionate and equitable.
C.N.A. Instructor Qualifications
- A current unencumbered Idaho RN license.
- Two years’ experience as an RN.
- One year of experience caring for the elderly in a nursing home or hospital as an RN.
- Maintain certification DHW
- Emotional and physical health to enable full participation in the classroom and clinical areas.
- Evidence of achieving positive student relationships.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Willingness to communicate effectively with a team.
- Have documentation of completion of an instructor development course; train-the-trainer course; or equivalent. Courses are offered through the area of professional-technical colleges/universities.
Responsibilities
- Work between 8-19.5 hours a week as outlined in the CSI Faculty Handbook.
- Teach in the classroom, lab and clinical setting.
- Attend and participate in team meetings as scheduled.
- Work with the health and nursing assistant team lending ideas, expertise and new clinical practices to the team and program.
- Participate in curricular revisions and outcome assessment of the health and nursing assisting program.
- Teach in multiple pedagogical techniques (e.g. online, hybrid, face-to-face).
- Evaluate student progress and outcomes according to the policies of the department and follow established guidelines set forth in the curriculum.
- Comply with all Idaho Career Technical Education policies and procedures.
- Maintain and keep current all CNA certifications, immunizations/screening tests, and AHA certifications.
- Work civilly and cooperatively with colleagues.
- Other duties as assigned.
