Position Summary
The Aquatics Stormwater Technician I is an entry-level field position responsible for learning and supporting the operational aspects of Foster Lake & Pond Management (FLPM). This role focuses on developing knowledge of aquatic and stormwater management practices, company policies and procedures, equipment operation, software systems, and customer service standards. The Technician I will actively support all areas of the business while demonstrating a commitment to FLPM's Core Values, Vision, safety culture, and continuous professional development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Company Values, Policies, and Safety

Learn, understand, and embody FLPM's Core Values within the first three months of employment.

Learn and support FLPM's Vision Statement within the first three months.

Review, understand, and sign the Employee Handbook within the first three months.

Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational standards.

Adhere to all FLPM safety policies and actively participate in scheduled safety meetings and training sessions.

Operations and Field Services

Assist and train in all areas of FLPM operations, including:

Preventative Maintenance

Construction and Repair Services

Retail Operations

Corrective Maintenance

Demonstrate continuous progress and receive positive performance feedback across assigned operational functions.

Learn basic equipment maintenance procedures and achieve proficiency on all required equipment maintenance tasks by the end of the first year.

Learn facility maintenance procedures and achieve proficiency on all required facility maintenance tasks by the end of the first year.

Perform fieldwork associated with aquatic management, stormwater management, pond maintenance, and related environmental services.
Software and Administrative Responsibilities
-
Accurately utilize company timekeeping software and consistently clock into assigned jobs.

Check and respond to Outlook email communications daily during workdays.
-
Learn and effectively utilize the company's Human Resources software platform within the first three months.
-
Become proficient in the company vehicle maintenance system and complete vehicle inspections within the first six months.
-
Review and maintain updates on the company calendar each workday.
-
Complete required documentation, reports, and digital records accurately and on time.
Training and Professional Development
-
Successfully complete Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) Inspection and Maintenance Professional Certification within the first year of employment.

Successfully obtain North Carolina Aquatic Pesticide Applicator Certification within the first year of employment.

Participate in and complete at least one company-sponsored training program annually.

Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
Communication and Teamwork

Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, supervisors, vendors, and team members.

Provide at least two pieces of constructive feedback monthly through the company's feedback and review software.

Respond to company emails within two business days.

Respond to company calls and text messages during working hours.

Complete self-assessments, employee check-ins, and HR-related tasks by established deadlines.

Required Skills
Work Environment

Primarily outdoor work performed in and around lakes, ponds, stormwater control measures, and construction sites.

Regular exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, water features, and maintenance equipment.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and operating tools and equipment.

Occasional travel to customer sites and company training events.
Required Experience
Qualifications
Required

High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Strong willingness to learn, receive coaching, and develop new skills.

Basic computer and smartphone proficiency.
Preferred
-
Experience in landscaping, pond management, stormwater maintenance, construction, equipment operation, or related field services.

Knowledge of aquatic vegetation management or stormwater best management practices.
-
CDL or ability to obtain one.
-
Relevant environmental, landscaping, horticultural, or maintenance certifications.
