Stormwater Mowing Crew Leader
Position Overview: The Stormwater Mowing Crew Leader is responsible for supervising and leading a year-round landscaping crew dedicated to Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) grounds maintenance. This is a hands-on leadership role that involves coordinating equipment, performing landscape maintenance, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and compliance standards while upholding the company's Core Values.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations & Compliance
- Execution: Perform and oversee monthly/quarterly SCM mowings to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Documentation: Effectively document dates and times of scheduled mowings and update the company calendar daily.
- Support: Assist in Preventive Maintenance activities and obtain necessary materials for projects.
- Quality Control: Ensure all aspects of SCM compliance are met, and that work is completed efficiently under the supervision of the Service Manager.
Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Fleet Management: Keep trucks organized, clean, and properly stocked. Communicate maintenance needs to the Operations Manager.
- Equipment Care: Maintain proficiency in basic equipment maintenance and keep all tools in good working order.
- Safety: Ensure the implementation of all safety measures and proper use of safety equipment by the crew.
Communication & Administration
- Team Coordination: Communicate effectively with the Service Manager regarding equipment needs and personnel concerns.
- Responsiveness: Respond to company emails, texts, and calls promptly during working hours.
- Reporting: Utilize the time app for daily clock-ins and complete HR tasks/self-check-ins by deadlines.
Required Skills
Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Industry Background: Preferred experience in landscaping, construction, excavation, water resources, or stormwater SCM maintenance.
- Equipment Proficiency: Experience operating Ventrac mowers, walk-behind decks, mini-excavators, and skid steers. Proficiency in loading and hauling trailers is preferred.
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
Licensing & Certifications
- Driver’s License: Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Professional Licenses: Must obtain (or currently hold) the Stormwater Control Measure (SCM) Inspection and Maintenance Professional certification and the NC Pesticide Applicator’s license.
- Background: Must pass a criminal background check.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift and carry up to 80 lbs.
- Capability to work alone and on steep slopes.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions and engage in occasional overnight travel.
